as long as you dont spill water 24/7 and leave it there, chances are your laminate wont warp. im personally a big fan of it, since unlike real hardwood, this stuff is next to impossible to damage. real hardwood will scratch, dent and gouge. laminate, you would have to really try to gouge it, and even then, it really wont. ive had pergo in my kithen for about 15 years i believe, and the boards are JUST starting to cup a little around the edges now. the stuff can take a beating like almost no other floor for more years that you will hopefully be renting a small house for :)

while nothing at all is real hardwood, its a long lasting, economical, and still a nice looking, and longer lasting alternative to spending major $$ on a new wood or tile floor. plus it can easily be installed by almost anyone with a bit of handy-man skills, and a couple basic saws. while real hardwood is nice as was suggested already, it can cost major money by the time the boards are purchased, installed, and then coated with polyurethane. plus you can move anything on the floor for atleast 3 days, 6-7 for heavy items like a fish tank and large furniture.

Great i am going to be paying for it so i need something very waterproof and also the most economical way to go. So laminate flooring is what i should be looking for, and then just but 600 sq feet at home depot and install the stuff myself. Ever heard about some big tile flooring?
I was thinking of moving my big 240 3 feet and then installing the floor then moving it back over the floor and proceed to install the rest? Same when i remove the carpet?
The 240 is my biggest problem since its in my bedroom and extremely tight fit. The other tanks i will move out side and then divide my fish up the best i can for all this?

if your paying, without a doubt go laminate. its the most economical and practical way with as much water as you have floating around your house.

if you cant get all your furniture out of the way, you can move stuf side to side, with minimal worry. just make sure to not damage the plank enges as you slide stuff over it.

if you have any question about the installation, dont hesitate to PM me. installing this stuff is extremely easy, and you'll get a close-to-perfect job even on your first try in many cases. i could talk a 14 year old computer geek thru installing the stuff over the phone, its that easy. will take a weekend most likely, but still better than paying a guy like me $2-$3 per sq/ft to install it. :grinno:

Thats perfect man you are helping me out beyond belief, thanks for making my day bro. yes i made a mistake last year messing with the tanks and getting water all over the place now i think i am sick from some mold. Praying i am not sick and things will go away after i change the carpet do you know anything about mold and breathing it in for a long time?

I was checking some Vinyl Tile at lowes.com looks really cool and very easy to install at 88cents sq foot. I think i only have about 300 sq feet. Room is 12 by 12 and other room is 12 by 18. The peel and stick kind seems great?
The beeper was going off the hook all over the rug so i am thinking for sure mold is in the carpet!

heres something i thought of when you said you've been sick lately.....is your subfloor of your house (the floor under the carpet) wood or concrete?? if its wood, you very well likely have yourself a black mold issue, which can be deadly, no joke.

i had this situation with a customer a few years back after a flooding. i replaced carpet and everything, yet he was still getting sicker and sicker. so i finally ended up breaking down a wall for him after he read about black mold to see if there was anything, and sure as hell, there were HUGE circles and patches of black mold that spread to behind his walls. his situation was so bad, he actually needed to move out and hire a mold remidiation company. no idea what happened after that, as i know he got fed up and tried to sell.

if you want to ensure theres no mold growing on your floor, be it concrete or wood, scrub the daylights out of the floor with a heavy bleach solution. its an old school solution, but its the best way to kill the crap ive been told. if its in your walls, you have yourself some hardcore issues

and to find exactly how many sq/ft you need, multiply the length of the room, by the width, and there you have it. a 12x12 room is 144 sq/ft and a 12x18 is 216 giving you a total of 360. ensure to purchase a few sq/ft more than you need to account for damaged pieces, or mess ups on your part.

dehumidifier

they only take some of the moisture form the air. if you have mold and the like, your doing nothing but recirculating it around the house

Well i have a friend that has extra ceramic tile number 5? He said he can cut me a deal at 1.00 dollar a sq foot?

I recently moved my 50 gallon and there was a huge mold spot behind the stand.

im starting to think that mold and mildew and all the crap we dont want to be breathing in, may be more prevalent in some of our houses due to fish tanks and spills, than we may think
