can i add a pike?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah the TSN is on pelllets, and he fills his belly every night, so i am not too worried about him eating the fish ...
and i have seen the pike in person, i dont know how long he is, but there is no way he will fit in the mouth of my TSN anytime soon (i do know how big he can open his mouth -- still not an issue) the pike is way too wide

And thats a crenicichla sveni female... Pretty fish... not overly aggressive i just saw tthe link...
It's a female Cr. lucius. Cr. sveni has an ocellated humeral spot. Cr. lucius doesn't.

:iagree: and she is probably full grown so do not plan on her getting much more than an inch or 2 bigger....

Go with a Venezuala , lentinculta or cincata they are very large pikes if you got good sized ones 8''+ you could just keep them in the 180 as the TSN and silver aro will have out grown your 180 by the time there big enough to eat the pike unless you plan to sell the 180 for a bigger tank to house the aro and TSN in which case a pike may not be an option with the TSN

Never under estimate a TSNs ability to eat other fish even if its eating pellets don't be so sure it won't eat anouther fish

That apears to be a nice female C.Lucius and at 8''-9'' its fully grown and i know for sure a 14'' TSN could open its mouth wide enough to eat it it may nt yet but once it hits 16'' in a short period of time the pikes days are numbered if it really wan'ted to it could eat the pike now

That pike is a member of the saxatilis group pikes that usually don't get over 10'' you would wan't a member of the Lugubris group pikes that will get we'll over 12'' some close to 18''

that is a beautiful female but i would never chance it with the tsn or the aro for life. for the immediate future it might be alright but probably not for long. i think you would be better off with the red devil there selling.

that pike better oversize your other fish cause arowanas catfish and peacocks eat anything they fit into there mouth even same sized fish... so he better be bigger or dont waste your money
