Can I add any puffer as a tankmate?

yeah proboably, and a mbu will need at the very minimum 300+g and massive frequent water changes.

house the ck how ever you see fit. they rarely reach 24" due to improper care.
 
Don't plan on putting a puffer in with your fishes, coz there is a possibility that the puffer might get a chunk out of your other fishes and die or your fishes might want to get a nibble of your puffer and die in the process coz puffers have toxins.
 
Recommended tank size for a mbu is 1000g, due to hit's HUGE bioload.

Only FW puffer that would not pick at your other fish would be a South American puffer (likes to live in shoals--needs regular teeth-trimming). They would get eaten by some of your other fish though, as your fish grow larger.
