i have a standard 125. 6' x 18". right now i have 2 oscars ~5", 1 JD ~5", and a breeding pair of convicts, male ~4", female ~3". i would love to add a GT or jag or both. too much? the tank has 3 big swords bunched together very densely on one side covering about a third of the tank, with the rest pretty much open, save some driftwood, smaller plants and rocks.

Well, the thing is, you are going to need something that can hold it's own against a breeding pair of convicts. The jag is a better choice for that but your oscars might not like it. You could try for a GT with a bad attitude, but I've had some that would get their butt beat by breeding convicts.

yeah its crossed my mind that i may need to get rid of the female con. i would rather have a gt or jag than watch the cons flirt and build nests. so lets assume i will only have the one male con. i just didnt know if i could add anything else. what about a jag AND a gt? i just want to go ahead and fully stock it now while they are all small and relatively new.

i cant really say i never had both fish in the same tank my gt grew up in at community tank and he never really bothered anyone but i had him scene he was small when i had my jag when he got to about 6 inch he dint want any fish near him or even in the same tank its really depends of your fish's temp.
maybe some one else can say 4 sure ?

Na, pikes are usually the dominant ones, but they aren't that nuts. They would chase most others around, but I wouldn't wory too much without trying it first. I've had a jag, gt, JD and oscar in the same tank with others before without anything out of the ordanary. Just the usual cichlid pecking order. Right now, the jag and oscar are still together. I also have, right now, 2 pikes with a JD, 2 silver dollars, and 2 plecos without any torn fins. It all comes down to individual personalities. If you got rid of at least one con, I think you could add both.

meh, i've heard some real horror stories about pikes killing off an entire tank. but i'm with frnchjeep if you get rid of one of the cons it might work, you'll never know till you try.
