Can I add anything else?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
About ordering online are there any breeders that are in the Midwest? Seems like the most popular ones are all from the East Coast. Just asking because I know that the farther away they are the more you pay on shipping.

Also I am working on uploading photos and will have some up in a little bit.

They are a distributor of Conkel fish from what I understand. One of the deepest selection of wild caught fish I've ever seen

How far are you from Chicago? If you drove 1.5hrs for a JD & Texas maybe you should look at gcca.net, they have a swap meet in a month. Some vendors will start posting ads in the classified section 2 weeks out and have the option to preorder. Species will vary from meet to meet but most species available won't be your your typical lfs species and cheap.

bbortko,

I checked out the up coming events and It would take me 3.5-4 hours to get to those from here. Do you have to be a gcca member to attend?

Anyways back to the subject at hand: Anybody know what type of Texas I have by the photos? I was thinking carpintis. And what would you add to this tank?

Ok, I just went to the video lounge and found out how to embed youtube videos. So here is my short video of my Texas. Is this a carpintis?

swap meets and some auctions are open to the public, I believe members only auctions are called members only auction.

was it sold as carpintis? unless they can tell you the source,it could be a hybrid.my cyano had purple/violet eyes.i don't think carpintis have that, tough to call from that size, maybe a clearer photo?

It was sold as a 'Texas Cichlid' when I asked what species the guy helping me at this LFS looked like I was crazy thinking that there were different species. I am always so baffled by how little some people at pet stores know about the things they sell. As long as it sells they don't care what it is. Anyone else have anything to say about what type of Texas this looks like? Or any other thoughts about what I might be able to add to this tank?

Thanks for everything so far. I will try and get some better pics over the weekend. Thanks.

That looks just like my texas. Here are some possible additions:

1. Lyonsi
2. Robertsoni
3. Severum
4. Silver Dollars
5. Convict
6. FM
7. Smaller Viejas

You have room for one more fish of 8-10" or a school of dithers. Of course, more fish means more potential for aggression and more filtration + water changes.
