can i do a 75% w.c on my 20 gallon?

switch some filter media to this tank ( whether in the new tanks filter or inside the tank, dont matter ) tank should be instantly cycled within a day.

I put 2 plants and water from my 125, new gravel tho, I mean it seems to be cycled I am gonna chill with the waterchanges but like I said im getting 0 ammonia 0 nitrite soooo yea....... and my green terror is outrageously active (ive never seen a fish so active)

So despite the fact that you where told in your other thread water holds very little BB in comparison to substrate such as sand gravel and filter material all you added was the water and two plants? I wish you luck bro, but I'd watch those parameters avidly as it's unlikely that your tank is cycled. The fact that you used your old tanks water to establish good biological bacteria and 2 plants and then did 75% water changes should means that even if you treated the fresh water with something to seed the biological bacteria your good BB is probably near non existent. You essentially removed the only base for your good bb by changing the water. It's common for water parameters to be climb first then drop so a O ammonia O nitrite reading may not mean everything's okay. You've neglected to mention your nitrate and when you do these parameter checks. Also an active fish doesn't necessarily mean healthy many fish become overly active under stress. Again good luck bro, hope I'm wrong and that all is good with your tank and fish.

Sorry LBF, I was wrong your input on adding filter material was helpful as the OP apparently didn't do so despite the previous advice in his past threads.

Not trying to be wise just curious do you mean they change all their water twice a day(200%) and how. I was always under the impression farms are usually pond systems or race systems with a constant drip system in place if that. Just curious about where you got your info as your post made me genuinely curious about how they do it as I thought I had a general idea but never gave it much thought whether they do actual water changes til your post.
100% once or twice a day was the meaning. My example was a discus breeding farm and may be the extreme, but was kinda my point. I've seen them take the water down to where the fish are laying on their sides before refilling. And before anyone says that stresses the fish... these are prize winning breeders in Asia. But to the point the OP brought up, I have had ammonia spikes and changed 50% for several days in a row until the fish were fine and everything leveled out to manageable levels. Makes the process slower and easier on the system.
