hey everybody i bought an silver arowana about 3" or 4" in size a week ago. He's in his own 45 gallon tank for now(untill he grows lil' bigger). so i was just wondering that can i do a complete water change once in a month like i use to do in my flowerhorn tank. i heard they are super-sensitive towards drastic change in water condition. im seeking for some advice for someone who has or had silver arowana!!

x2 never more than 70%. But at 3-4in your better off w/ 40-50% once a week or every other week.

If your water parameters are ok, I think a 25 - 35% weekly water change should be enough, Its more stressful if you do a 1005 water change.

bro.. what water are you using? ground water (bore) or metro water? what filters are you running on it? i would suggest a poop clean everyday and top up.. this will probably do like a 5% to 10% WC everyday.. i've done it for my aros when they were about the same size..

y not a complete water change?i have done it many a time and there ws no problem other than handling my 18 inch arowana..:neways i dont do complete water change nw jus by reading the trend here :-D

I don't see why more than 70% water change would hurt.. The good stuff is all in the filter, not in the tank..
Personally, I drain most of the water until there is just enough water for the arowana to swim around (almost 80% of water removed)

*P.S.: I would recommend that you change the water at least once every 2 weeks, preferably once a week.. Once a month seems like a very long time unless you don't feed a lot and you have a really good filtration system..

my biggest problem is filter itself. I was using an external hang-on filter but it had too much flow rate and arowana couldn't swim against it. So now im using an internal filter.

im using ground water and an interfilter. I clean the poop every other day.
