Can I do anything about a "minor broken back" please comment

extreme swelling would cause the fish to move poorly. If its just swelling from sprain the fish should recover.
Rallysman a ct or mri would definately be a more effective diagnostic study but i don't have access to that equipment.

a CT or MRI would definitely be interesting, but since there has been little done in that area with gar vertebral damage (also keep in mind that gars, one or two other species of fishes, a couple lizards and some birds are the only organisms that have this particular vertebral structure). so it would provide an interesting picture, but would not really change the treatment method much at all...it's more a "wait it out and see how bad it gets" situation, with a worsening condition that should result in euthanization, and an improving condition resulting in relatively no change in husbandry--

my stunted spotted/florida cross has the same and hes fine except he wont grow. by the way the curve happened after i realised he was stunted, rescued him
 
well.. he is stiggle got a nasty wiggle when he swims but I saw a little more tail movement today so keep your fingers crossed for him if you can guys
