i feed mine raw shrimp."Fish it's whats for dinner" just make sure you wash the fish from salt before feeding the arow.

Great! Do you mean a quick rinse under faucet water? Also, is their any frozen shrimp brands that you recommend when you go to the store? I assume you peel the skin off for him right? I've read of a thread where they say the shell of the shrimp can tear the internal parts of the fish... which I'd be worried about.

Hmm does anyone have anything bad to say about buying your Arowana fresh fish that's uncooked?

so you mean in the wild, they cook their meal first before eating them? lol i breed my superworms and feed it directly.. no need to cook it or something.. as long as you know where your uncooked meal comes from, it safe.. lol

I imagine a $10 fish that stays frozen where you chop off a small piece twice daily would be pretty healthy, mixed in with some pellets. Does this sound like a good alternative to live feeder fish? For some reason, I've never seen a topic based on buying frozen fish for your Aro.

I feed mine nothing but fish from the local meat market. He's eating salmon and rainbow trout at the moment.

i feed mine quite often with raw fish fillets, mostly FW fish. Just wash it under running water extensively to take away most of that gooish / glueish stuff that clings to fish. Trout for instance, is a god food, but if unwashed leaves the tank water grey and greazy.

in the past when my dad was raising arowana's we would feed them smelt. you buy them frozen in 1 or 2 pound bags and thaw them out in cold/cool water...we didnt overheat them but let them thaw to room temp. we used to remove the fins with scissors to avoid the sharp parts and dropped them in whole. if you wanted to you could easily fit pellets inside the fillet as the fish are gutted and only about 3 - 4 inches long tops. each fish would eat about 3 to 6 fish and be full. we would do this about twice a week.
