Wow wow wow.... i have been reading this and said that u want to feed ur fish fillet fish straight from the sea? if that is true i would not do it man.... they have parasites, bacteria, and more bad stuff on it. Would be better if u buy it or start breeding them if u r really desperate... :( sorry no free food that is good.... lolz fed my fish these small minows i caught from the river and they got a parasite and 4 big holes in it. They survived luckily so i would not do it ever again!

Would agree on freshwater fish, but can marine parasites and diseases affect fresh water fish though?

I didn't read all the way and yeah I wouldn't feed wild caught fish to my fish ever again either, made that mistake.

As for raw, from the market if it isn't sushi quality, I would actually lightly cook it first to kill parasites. bake it or something. Just don't season or add anything to it. I've feed cooked fish and shrimp fine, cocktail shrimps are cooked and so is smoked salmon. Just make sure you vary the diet when feeding this stuff so that you don't build up anything in there system.

I don't know what everyone is so afraid of. Whenever I catch and fillet a bass or walleye or anything else I always give it a few pieces to my fish before I eat the rest. My fish have probably eaten more of my fillets I've cleaned myself that anything from a store.

What would make store bought talapia fillets any better than fish you catch yourself? There is really only a risk of parasites or bacteria if you feed the guts or the whole fish. There is nothing in a properly cleaned fish fillet that can hurt an aquarium fish. There is no advantage to cooking the fillets () at all, unless you need to waste some time. As long as you clean everything right, there's no issue at all.
