Thanks man! My cousin lives down south and keeps a good eye out for me. You actually bought his flowerhorn last week or the week before I think.

Lot of pseudo science going on with the dog nutrition in this thread, LOL.

Agreed, I decided that seeing this was a fish forum, I would leave my counter comments about dog nutrition for another place, and another time. :)

If you can't afford to feed your fish with food that was designed with their nutritional requirements in mind, perhaps consider giving them to someone that can.

What scares me even more with dog food, beyond the mammalian protein, is the oil and fat. Never saw a dog pellet that was not oily... Should wreak havoc with water.

But, having said that, and having never fed it, i know of cases, of guys with big ponds, who feed their fish dog food and they grow and reproduce...

It is a question after all, of being raised with lard, as opposed to good meat. You survive.....

very good points Miguel, it was just a thought I hadn't actually really thought about wether dog food was even good for dogs let alone fish. I can imagine it just clouding up my water SO BADLY.

This has been debated plenty of times in dog groups. The cheaper brands of kibbles are scarier to use than the premium ones but I can explain this more in a more appropriate topic having been around dogs for nearly 20 years.

Isn't extruded dog fod better in terms of oil and fat, Lupe?

I've been keeping dogs for 45 years, and I'm as well versed in dog nutrition as I am fish nutrition ...... there are very high quality dry dog foods, and there is cheap crap - same as fish food.

This isn't exactly rocket science - people do NOT feed your fish dog food, cat food, monkey food, or any other commercial food that hasn't been formulated specifically for fish.
