Duh! My bad. But I have never seen Asian Bugs either. I don't know if they're in my neck of the woods. My fish do love Earwigs though.

did you find a latin name for them? how about a link or a picture of them to help us other members out, like we helped you. ;)

"asian bugs" is quite vague...

google asian lady beetle and you will see them. the ones i get around here are orange. the article i read earlier today said we broght them over here for some reason or another. cant remember exactly

I feed my fish bugs all the time but not a single one of my fish will eat a asian lady bug not even the hog oscar I used to have.

"Coccinellidae is a family of beetles, known variously as ladybirds , ladybugs, or lady beetles"

"Coccinellids (including asian lady beetles) are often brightly colored to ward away potential predators. This phenomenon is called aposematism and works because predators learn by experience to associate certain prey phenotypes with a bad taste (or worse). Mechanical stimulation (such as by predator attack) causes "reflex bleeding" in both larval and adult ladybird beetles, in which an alkaloid toxin is exuded through the joints of the exoskeleton, deterring feeding. Ladybugs, as well as other Coccinellids are known to spray a toxin that is venomous to certain mammals and other insects when threatened."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coccinellidae

everything i read claimed that coccinellids (including the beetle you are referring to) are toxic!

what did you read that stated they are safe for animals to eat, or more specifically, fish? (links please!)

i would be wary of any information i got from a website without sources or good documentation of firsthand accounts.

Good luck getting fish to eat them. If they taste half as bad as they smell, they're not going to get eaten by anything with taste buds or that isn't starving.

Well if any of this helps my turtle eats lady bugs all the time!....... my oscars eat them from time to time as well, the lady bugs are attracted to mt turtles light and some times they fall in and he gets a snack :)
