I got this tank for free, and when I got it home I inspected it, and noticed it had this chip on the corner, and the crack on the bottom. You can feel the crack from the inside, but not from the outside. The chip is small, but it is still covered in silicone. I havn't filled it up yet to see if it will leak, but what are your opinions on this? I was going to use it for my daughters room, and make a little stand painted up for a child and stuff. Should I scrap it or try using it anyway??

The whole tank

i have head worst looking tanks i resealed the corners in and out and silicone on 1/2'' corner trim to the out side and stained it. the tank was free and i sold it for $100 with only $13 in parts.

Is it just one panel? a little hard to tell.

Being that's it's only a 20g I would just clean the silicone off and put a 3" x 6" glass 'patch' over it and silicone it in.

Or you could replace the whole panel, which is not a big seal and good experience for when you make your next MONSTER tank :D.

Note to self... "don't buy tanks from tiersmoke92555"

it's just the bottom. So however I fix it dosen't have to be pretty, because you wont see it under the gravel.

Plastic trim on bottom...no. Get a piece of silica sandpaper and break the sharp edge and get some of the Styrofoam that they use for under wood floor laminate (1/8") to help level and take any stress points.

I'm not sure I follow about the styrafoam. I laid a floor in my house, and the stuff I used was real flimsy, and came in a roll. Do you by chance have a link to this stuff so I could see what you are talking about?

It does come in a roll or folded flat, eighth of an inch thick and blue . Otherwise you can use the 1/2" - 5/8" styrofoam insulation http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=15348-46086-15348 that comes in a 4' x 8' sheet (blue or pink) that is used with larger tanks to level them.

Home Depot & Lowes carry it.
