Can I have a Salvini in my tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I personally have never had a problem with aggression from my salvini. Mine will chase but doesn't nip. I'd add it and they don't get huge so I think you would be ok in that size tank. Just my opinion

I ended up getting 2 free fish because my lfs did a special buy 2 get 2 free, same price though. So I got the last 2 red tail botias, and nothing in the store except for a small jaguar was same price, so I got 2 salvinis. So far so good... I hope it stays this way. 1/2 and 1/2 o2 on aggression but I will test the water and find out.

Not to be a kill joy, but that will probably very quickly change as they mature lol

Who knows? I've had a red devil that stayed peaceful for 5 yrs, it was living with angelfish.
But I believe the aggression will probably be between the 2 salvinis.

Yup, that's the great thing about this hobby. What works for one person wont work for another. I've seen people with full grown JDs and convicts together in 20g tanks, setup for years and years. Then there's those with tetras, africans and guppies setup in a large tank for 5 years. Of course you don't advise people to do it, but I can't help but admire when they get lucky enough to succeed with odd combinations.

Good luck with your setup, look forward to the pics as well!
