can i have pirahnas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i see alot of posts, of people who don't beleive his p's are that big anyways.

"That fish looks like about 10" in those pics. When you compare where the fish is in the bucket, and how the second shot is from a greater distance, i dont think that fish is any larger than 10". However it looks a solid 3" wide. "

"See this is why I always say HOAX....you never have a ruler and fish in the pic..Why not take one pic with the ruler above the fish in the bucket ......who's saying thats the same bucket? It's an old pic, all I'm saying is you could take a pic of your tank with a ruler in front...CASE CLOSED "

these also state that these are the biggest reds in captivity, i'd like to see many over 10". also not morbidlly obese. pluus i'd accually like to see these fish. he obviously edited his first post because he's ethier embassed about the obese fish or lies about the length.

another post-

i totally agree with GG. your nattereri are f*cking fat RB32, and that can't be a personal opinion, cause it's just the truth. thick pygo's doesn't mean healty pygos. Anyway, your fish are damn huge and they serve coloration. that means they're not stressed out and they fell good gratz. anyway they'll have respiration and movement problems if u keep feeding them this way, and i'm pretty sure that thay won't least 10-13 years if u don't change they're diet. I grow up fishes taking care of what's the best thing to do to make THEM feel the best i can, not to make them as "I" want to see. that fat is not healty for them...if u care of them u'll feed them less, otherwise that means you just care of what you like and you don't give a sh*t to your fishes, u just use them to show how clever you are, and to be proud of what you say: "that u got the biggest rb's in captivity". in my opinion, u just have the fattest pygo's in captivity cause i saw solid 14" rb in a 200 gallon tank, they were huge and well proportioned, simply beautifull. and i can certanly say that also a red belly which pass 12" has a bulldog extra large face

I said it was a mess XR-And is a huge topic that many factors can/and was debated....But once again the pics clearly prove the size is over 9 inch-No matter how one looks at it...

It doesn't state (pfury),He states they are....

Give me a few-time to take daughter to school...

I also will not and can not deny that they are severly over weight-But thats not the topic at hand here...Length is.....

Who wouldn't be embarassed....

i have personally never seen anything over 12", but i have seen plenty over the nine inch mark. to get back to superluke's initial question tho, if this is gonna be your first time with piranhas, i would suggest you start out with a lower number, somewhere between 4 and 6. having a smaller number will increase your chances of success and if you decide that you have gained enough experience, more pygos can be added at a later time.

Read this XR-Explains alot Sir.....

Can't really dispute it either....

"the aquarium, fish always appear larger than what they really are and I can't even begin to tell you how often I have misjudged a fishes true size in the aquarium. Even hobbyists who have emailed me and swore their fish was 16 inches Total Length (TL) would later discover (after measuring out of the aquarium) their fish was actually 3 to 4 inches shorter in size using the scientific method. On average if you think your piranha is 14 inches long (TL), realistically, your fish may only be 10 1/2 long (SL) using the correct method of measurement. I have not seen any report (wild caught) that records red bellied piranhas larger than 12 inches (total length). Larger ones may exist but the record has not been broken using standard length. World records are based more on weight than length of a fish. In the home aquarium is another matter"

well what i highlighted makes sence. so in this case i need to see pics of this mans giant rbp on the ruler. i know of Frank and his work with p's so i won't dispute his claims of rbp in the 11-12" range. but i would also like to know how common it is for rbp to hit that. will every one get 12"? male jaguar cichlid have been said to hit 16". which they do, but some of the biggest captive males only hit 14-15".

"In the aquarium, a most unnatural environment for piranhas, especially large ones, the fish can grow almost infinitely in size solely because of 1) food availability 2) care 3) no active predators of piranha available."
------------------------------------------------------------
this mans rbp obviously have been fed huge quanity's of food, over a long period of time. and with the correct size tank (how big is it btw) that size may be possible. but how likely is it?
