Can I have these fish in my tank? please advise

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok well I respect your opinion although I completely dissagree with it. I hate when people lose their cool and have arguing matching on threads like these when it is unecessary. Thank you for your input. Hopefully the OP will make a decision he sees best

:D...i did not loose my cool for one bit, just wanted to stand my ground on what i believe in...BTW thanks for respecting my opinion...

Anyways...the OP can decide what he wants to keep, its his money/tank EOD

I think a texas cichlid could be a nice fit. Two oscars a green terror and a carpintis would be perfect for your tank. In my experience texas' are hardy can hold their own but aren't overly aggressive. Oh yeah and they are one striking looking fish in my eyes.uploadfromtaptalk1388948981034.jpg

Will be interesting to see what you decide and how the tank looks. You might want to do a forum search on Oscars and see the number of MFK members pushing a 75 as the bare minimum size for one before deciding to go with 5-6 times that number in a tank just over twice the size, gallon wise. Also keep in mind that swimming space is not the only concerns when it comes to Oscars.

Trust me, most people who end up with oscars dont really keep them their entire lifespan where they are capable of hitting 12"+, these commercially bred oscars dont reach that size because they max out around 8-10" and when they do get to that size, they usually end up in a LFS....its sad but true

so 2-3 oscars in a tank that big is overkill

Unless, he wants to keep the fish all their life...but either way...good luck

My "commercially bred" Oscar is 13" long...

Thanks for the responses guys I didn't mean for it to turn into an argument and I'm not sure how it did but anyway I think I'm going to go with one of these options, please tell me which would be a better option, thanks for all the help so far btw it's been very helpful 😜
Option 1:
1 tiger oscar
1 albino tiger oscar
1 convict cichlid
1 green terror

Option 2:
1 tiger oscar
1 texas cichlid
1 convict cichlid
1 green terror

Oh and just so you know I'm not planning on getting rid if these fish at any stage of their life unless something pops up and I HAVE to but no they will be kept for their life 😜

I'd say go with the first option

I'm guessing everyone would give you a different answer, so i will throw a new one into the mix.

Hypselecara Temporalis (Chocolate Cichlid)

Why? Its around the same size as an oscar and also live is similar water conditions. They are also very colorful and generally peaceful.
