I don't plan on getting a 20 inch bass ........ My tank can hold 5 fish max ... Bass can get big , but it depends on how big their environment is ... Bass just don't grow non stop ... It all depends on how big their area is .. I plan on getting a baby bass ... Not an adult size Bass ...

Let me make this real simple. Putting a fish in a small tank, at a small size, so it won't grow to its full potential is cruel. The fish MAY survive but will not thrive. A dog can live its entire life in a crate but would that be the right thing? Should we treat our fish any different? I highly encourage you to think deeply about this, and not only what YOU want, but what is best for the fish. Thank you

I dont want to sound too harsh I understand you are new but that whole fish grow to the size of their tank crap is total bs. What happens is fish get stunted due to poor living conditions and life a rough sickly life. It would be similar to starving a baby to save money on clothes and such. Ya a malnourished child may live to be 30 years old but I guarentee they will have health issues and will not be able to live a full healthy life it deserves

SMH man so you are basically saying the fish will stay small and that's perfectly ok..... Ugh Just nevermind I don't want to flame this thread I'll just keep browsing MFK elsewhere

I always wonder why people come here for advice then don't listen to a single word of it:p

Only a moron would think it is a good idea to keep a largemouth bass in a 20gal. I wouldn't even consider keeping one in anything less than 400gal.

Honestly trial and error is the best teacher. Some of these people posting might have tried to have a bass in a 20 gallon and they can tell you that it does not work. I know some sources say that stunting the growth is good, but from what I know it is not. From what I know stunting is not based on area size, but on the bio-load. The one main thing I have to say is keep the fish only if you care about it as a living thing and know that it is not an object.

The releasing of the catfish to where it was from was not a good idea. Know that if you do get this bass, you can not release it into anywhere. Since you can't release it, you can find a new home for it, but that will be hard. If everything fails you will have a suffering fish you will have to take care of or euthanize.
