im pretty sure it was born like that, not cut :screwy:

Hahahaha, must be the most deformed FH I have never seen in my entire life then if it is born like that. Trust me, it is cut off alright...

this girl droped him on my doorstep.... and i do agree that if this fish was cut at a young age.....that it is mean but my fish is not "hideous" she is great
and thanks for all the answers
ex critisizm on the part of my fish
i didnt start a poll on weather or not you liked the looks of my fish but thanks for wasting space on my thread
any constructive post are welcome
idk if you think you have a better looking fish im not in a fashion contest
so have a good day

Wrong, Fish are NOT born without tails. Parrots or FH. They are cut and at a young age, alot wont survive and its usually done with low grades, or fish that should have been culled so they can still make money off a heart shaped fish.
Sorry for stating my opinion along with giving you good advice on your questions...
I just cant get by the fact that somebody cut the back end off a Fh, for this look. I dont enjoy looking at it.
I commend you on the rescue and giving her a good home. I wish people would leave FH on my doorstep.

Answers are given already to some of the questions stated in the first post.

Try Java ferns or anubias. They're a few of the toughest plants although I would not expect too much if your fish has a tendency to tear off anything at all. I would not breed this particular flowerhorn if I were you. It's your choice however.

It is a deformation from birth, look at the dorsal fin and how much higher it is then the tale .The body rolls down.I have had fish that had their tale gone and grew back.
