Umm maybe the people who keep them in suitably sized tanks? Monster fish and monster tanks should walk hand in hand and IMO an arrowana should not be kept in anything less than a 12x6ft tank. Just because someone likes a fish, doesn't mean to say that they have some sort of right to keep them in less than adequate conditions. You wouldn't keep an Oscar in a 30g so why would you keep an arro in a 9ft?

anyway back on topics geeze lol .... the gar is in fact a florida gar ! I have seen pics and it is confirmed he is 100% a florida gar ! most aro's I know of are 20-24" but I have seen a few for sale down here that are 26" and 30" but how accurate are these people measurements god only knows considering he posted this florida gar at 24" which I could tell by the pics he had posted since it a 6ft long tank which means 3 sections that are 2ft long were the supports are and the pic was the gar near top of tank from one support to maybe 3/4 way to next so the supports are 2 ft apart that makes the gar 15-18" IMO he is just looking and guessing the size of the gar

300g is volume, not size. If it is 96x30x24" LxWxH you'll be able to house tne aro until is is close to 30" in length, so you should get 3-4 years out of it. If it is only 24" wide you'll be looking to upgrade a lot sooner.
300g is 72x36x27 I have here

I can think of a few examples;

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?544405-My-Black-Aro-2013-update

and they are both blacks. The number of 'check out my new silver' threads vs the number of 'check out my 30" silver' threads are a sad indictment on the hobby, not on the ability of silvers to get that big, IMO.

Rob, your 6' long tank will do until the aro is aroun 2' long, maybe slightly longer because of the extra width, but ideally you would aim to have a tank that is at least 3x the length of the fish, so an upgrade to 8' would eventually be on the cards. A 2' silver will cover the length of a 6' tank in a split second when spooked, don't let their peaceful serpentine motion fool you, they are very fast and powerful fish!
