Hello everyone I was wondering if I could mix these fish together in my 80 gallon triangle fish tank. these are the fish
1.Annularis Angelfish
2.Atlatnic blue tang
3.Longnose Hawkfish
4.Stars N' Stripes Pufferfish
If these fish can't be mixed I would like to hear a list that can be mixed that is similar or cotains some of these fish! Thank You

What are the dimensions of this tank?

from left to right 42 inches
up to down 27 inches and from the longest point on the top from back to front is 27 inches

The Angel is iffy to me... At its adult size, it would probably need more swimming room than is offered by this footprint. The Blue Tang would be okay for quite a while, maybe for life, but they can grow quite large, as well. The Hawkfish would be fine, I think. The puffer just gets way too large for this size tank.

In my opinion, a good stocking list for a tank of this size/shape would consist of some of the following: one of the pygmy angels, maybe some Chromis, a harem of Anthias, a Clownfish or two, Blennies/gobies, with perhaps one of the larger fish you list (tang or angel) as the centerpiece. I'm just trying to keep the max. size of the other species fairly small so as to allow more space/allowance for bioload for the centerpiece fish, but still have lots of movement at various levels of the tank.

How much LR are you going to have? This will reduce swimming space and volume, so keep that in mind... in SW, an 80 gallon tank can easily turn into a 60 or 65 gallon tank due to displacement from the LR.

I think the general rule of thumb is a pound per gallon. I wouldn't go any less than fifty pounds. As for how much water this would displace, I'm a literature person, not a math person, so I can't tell you that... anyone know how to figure that out?

Are you going to have LR in the sump, as well?

Here... try using this site. I think it'll help you figure your way around stocking. You can use the search tool at the bottom of the page and pull up TONS of information on different species and their needs.

Wouldnt think that you could ever get a formula on how much 50 lbs LR displaces water considering you might have a baseballl size rock thats dense and weighs 10 lbs and have one thats softball size thats less dense that only weighs 2 lbs.
