Can i remove my poly's caves?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont think there will be any problem with the caves, you have so much space in your tank which is nice. I would go with a black background for a nice contrast.

change of sand would better help bring out contrast then background

Yeah i think im going to try to change to a dark brown sand and a black background instead of this weird colored/patterned one lol

Good Call the "Design" Backgrounds generally take away from the full aquascape. A Pure Black/Blue Background gives the eye the ability to look at the aquascape rather than the distance beyond....I have Super Naturals "Peace River" or a 3M quartz sand (remember to rinse thouroghly) like Hao or King-EL would also be great ;):D

PS: If it were my tank I'd add more driftwood to cover one corner....add Manzantia etc...but it isn't my tank, We'd love to see Pics once you decide on a darker substrate

i dont suggest using dark brown as it has same affect as black sand will make your lower jaws all dark and the contrast and color will blend together

Get more driftwood and real plants. Rubber band anubias, bolbitis, java ferns, and/or java moss onto driftwood. Plant some vallisneria in the background.

Your sand is nice, but slightly darker would look a lot better. Although, it is hard to tell how dark sand is in photos, it tends to be darker in person.

I agree on the black background.
