I dont have much experience with bichirs but I know with just about everything else as soon as the muscle is exposed, there is a very very slim chance of survival. If it where just to the fin he would be fine, but that is a really serious would. Don't give up though I really hope he makes it!

One would have to assume some level of infection. I would qt and treat with antibiotics. I would not worry about it eating.

I am not expert but I would use a broad spectrum antibiotic, melafix and salt.

You should put this up in the disease section and see what the experts in this area say.

Yeah they are nasty fish... But DAMN! That's a nasty wound. Worth a shot. P;ut him in a small tank for now. Keep water very clean even if you have to change it everyday add salt, heat and antibiotics and I say he'd have a good chance as any. Don't give up.
