interesting, maybe a cheap way to do plywood tanks. if the material is fish safe, all you would need is caulking in the seams. find yourself a decent glass panel and get started.
I was thinking if I Just built a cube the dimensions of each sheet, and of course purchased a piece of glass the same size, and framed it accordingly with say 10" centers on the 2x4's then it may work. Or maybe just a ply wood shell...I know that pvc is fish safe if not the plumbing on 1000's of sumps that I've seen on this site should be killing off loads of fish... I already sent them an email wondering if I had to pick up the entire stack of sheet's or if I could just pick up a few. If anyone else wants to give it a try I would be willing to pick up some extra, and maybe work out shipping? Just putting that out there.
i would pick up as much as i could- for some practice- trial and error. Just imagine, framing out a huge tank, and just using the panels to cover the wood =x. i think i'm making it sound too easy for reality, but it should work- just have to deal with some silicone seams. good luck
I am definitely planning on picking up quite a bit of it but I'll be hunting a deal on a large piece of tempered glass as well, perhaps I'll try Freecycle for an unwanted glass table.
so your goona make a giant foam box, like those cheap ass coolers, but much larger thats the stuff i would stick under my tank, not make a tank out of.
It's hard to tell the actual thickness of those sheets from the pic, but I'd be a bit skeptical about how well they'd stand up to the pressure forced on them by the water... building the way you want, I reckon you'd have somewhere between 70 and 90L of volume in the finished tank. That's approaching 100kgs of water.
I like jbn's idea to use it to line a Plywood tank... I dunno, if it's cheap enough, maybe give it a try...
