can jack dempsey live with jaguar??

thanks for the responses guys! so far the jack dempsey and jag are getting along ok. they just stare each other down but dont do anything more.

My 6" male Jack will not tolerate any tankmates. I have tried him with an equal sized Texas, a 14" Oscar, and a 10" Pleco...all were almost killed within 24 hours. He is destined to be alone.

species compatibility is just a guideline if the jd acts big he will be fine. the major issue with fish this different is once the "little guy" backs down the bigger fish knows he owns. fish dont have health clubs and mirrors so most base aggression and dominance on reactions of the other fish, convicts that could be eaten my some tankmates coexist because they rarely back down.

wats the demensions of your tank?
i only have a 100gal but mines 6'x18"x18" an i got lucky
my jag turned out to b female an paired up with my
jd. but they also grew up together with a couple of
other cichlids but they always were the two fighting
and had the biggest growth rate, jd faster then jag also

I agree 100%. Im raising 2jags with green terror and a Jd andtheyg
Agree 100%.currently im raising 2 jags with Jd and a green terror and they are going perfectly well together. They have been put together since they were 3 cm and no problems till now.
