Hey i have a baby large mouth bass of 2 inches in my 75 gallon tank with my bichirs and angel fish. Today I went fishing for perch but a baby smallmouth bass got hooked on. It got pretty injured so i kept it. The LMB and the SMB are the same size. Will they cohab or will they fight to the death?? once they reach a foot or so, i'm going to buy on of those on-ground koi tubs to house them both. Will they eat my 5 inch bichirs or will they be tamed if I feed them often? How big do you think i have to put them outside??

What's the difference between baby LMB and SMB. is the mouth just smaller?? i am interested in getting 2 redfin pickerals in my 75 gallon tank too. Will it be insanely populated?? This is my planned stocklist:

75 gallon tank:

3 bichirs

2 angel fish

2 bass (going in the pond once it hits a foot or so)

2 (or 1) red fin pickeral (staying in tank 4 life)

is it going to work out?? what do i to tweek?

my large mouth is harassing the smallie. are they just getting used to each other or is this total war?

Your LMB will wreck everything. When I had mine, He killed my log perch darter that wast only an inch shorter than him (so watch it with your bichirs) and he killed three of sun fish(which ranged from 3-7") and he almost killed my gar. I had him fed twice a day with shrimp, bloodworms, pellets, and fish. They are very violent fish. I had to part with mine when he was 14". He grew to that size from 4" in about 8 months.

Like cichlids, if there is enough space, then yes. They can. As long as the smallie can't fit in its mouth. Just keep an eye on the growth rate. Usually they growth rate on smallies is much slower than LMB.

How long can i keep them in a 75 gallon for before they kill each other? what size?

largemouth bass can live with eachother when theyer young but they are loners after that. they will develope an intolerance for any fish if they are crammed in a tank too small for it capacity. for wild fish the tank size is 8-10 gallons per 1 inch of fish so you might wanna remove them right away.
