Hey i have a baby large mouth bass of 2 inches in my 75 gallon tank with my bichirs and angel fish. Today I went fishing for perch but a baby smallmouth bass got hooked on. It got pretty injured so i kept it. The LMB and the SMB are the same size. Will they cohab or will they fight to the death?? once they reach a foot or so, i'm going to buy on of those on-ground koi tubs to house them both. Will they eat my 5 inch bichirs or will they be tamed if I feed them often? How big do you think i have to put them outside??

What's the difference between baby LMB and SMB. is the mouth just smaller?? i am interested in getting 2 redfin pickerals in my 75 gallon tank too. Will it be insanely populated?? This is my planned stocklist:

75 gallon tank:

3 bichirs

2 angel fish

2 bass (going in the pond once it hits a foot or so)

2 (or 1) red fin pickeral (staying in tank 4 life)

is it going to work out?? what do i to tweek?

Smallmouth are more aggresive, yes smallies have a smaller mouth, jaw ends before the eye, the largemouths mouth ends after the eye. I would say the bichirs will try to take the bass for sure, at some point. Yes they will/can live together, but its crap shoot, you may have a good team and you might not, just trial and error. I had two smallies in my 500, the bigger of the two was a bully but he didnt mess with my 5lb largemouth, the smallie was 3lbs and then about a 2lber. The bigger the tank the better for these guys.

okay. what size do you recommend me in transfering the bass in to the pond? it's going to be about 3 feet by 4 feet and arounf 2 feet deep. Will they survive for the winter?
will the bass eat the bichirs?? they are completely peaceful right now. The bass isn't harassing my bichirs or angels nor vice versa.

My largemouth is rightnow harassing my smallie right now. the LMB is charging at the smallie and trys to bite/nip him. So far no injuries. Is this natural or will they kill eat other. The smally is stressed and dark in colour right now. are they just getting used to eat other?

I doubt it will survive the winter if the pond is that small.

There's a good chance you will end up with one bass

so the bass will just slaughter each other? So will they kill the other tankmates too or is it just a bass territorial problem? What if they were in a pond together?

Bass are just territorial. In my experience they seem to focus more on other bass, but they don't discriminate lol. It takes a lot of room to tone this down, how much depends on the individual fish.

I'm going to release back the bass where i got it from. Think pickeral will work? LOL
