well, technically, it's actually an invertebrate, but it doesnt matter. are they allowed to do that?? i wanted to buy a rc shrimp, but the employee refused to sell it to me just cuz it was pregnant. she claimed, they were trying to breed them and are only willing to sell the non pregnant ones. WTH? well, i know one thing for sure... i aint going back there again

Well it's good reason why they won't sell a pregant shrimp to you. The pregnant shrimps often stressed out during transfor from lfs to the new owners' tank as they may lost their eggs. I'm sure you will get some non-pregnant females as they are easy to breed in your tank.

So? What's wrong with buying some non-pregnant females and few males to start your colony?

Over here it happens all the time, other times, they may have separate (higher) prices tags for pregnant females...

I would sell the pregnant one, if I was the store clerk, but at a higher price since you'd be getting a lot of shrimp for the price of one. That or just wait for it to not be pregnant.
My stuff, my rules.
