i'm plan to transfer 2 of my 1.5" indos out of their grow out box which is modified from a art tool box to a about 5 or 6 gallons fog tank that my friend has. but here's the thing, i don't wanna run another separate filter system, i just wanna use the outlet tube of my canister filter to dump the water into the little tank and use a power head to pump the water out. this plan will work as far as drawin the water from the big tank then return to it, however, i have a fluval 403 and that thing pumps like 317gph. and i'll have to use a equally powerful power head to pump the water back, but in such a small tank, the water flow would be too damn quick, isn't it?
do u guys think it's too fast for the little guys or it should be fine? suggestions are very welcome!

why dont you just pop some small holes into the art box and let it float in your main tank? i think the flow would be too stressful for such small fish. imagine trying to sleep in a wind tunnel

das wut i did w/the art box, but it's realli small as u can see if the pix, i'll have to move them out pretty soon, and i have time on my hands rite now. thanks for the input, i'll just use a over flow or something i guess

Besides there being too much flow your plan wouldnt work any way. Even if you can get a pump rated the same as your canister there is no way youll get them to flow EXACTLY the same. Over time one would over take the other causing the tank to either overflow or dry up.

true, i'm gettin a overflow filter

Yeah...I think you made the right decision. You would have been wasting your time trying to get the flow rates correct...which would be a never ending battle.
