hello there friends .. i have 8 fishes in my tank... 1 veil tail albino oscar, 1 albino oscar, 1 copper plate oscar, 1 tiger oscar!

i m truely fascinated by these fishes ... but the thing is that i want to add one more fish .. the black ghost knife fish ... please help me as i really wanna know whether this idea will work or not as black ghost fishes are pretty expensive here in india !!

In order to answer your question, we need to know what size tank you have the Oscars in.

if the tank is large enough and the BGK is larger thn the O's mouth then yes, but how large is your tank.

first of all thanx alot for the quick responses .. well i m a total newbie in this field and i seriously wish to learn more from u guys ..
well i have a tank with dimensions ... 2ft x 15inches x 1ft

i tried to calculate it from a website and it showed :

18.7 US Gallons
15.5 UK Gallons

i repeat as i m a newbie i m starting from a smaller tank ...

i knw its kinda embarrassing but i m starting small ....

I believe Oscars and Ghost knives are a good fit but your tank is small. The Oscars will outgrow it quickly. If you really like the Ghost, pick a more suitable tank mate for the size of the aquarium. Large Cichlids wouldn't be the best choice for a tank that size.

yeah i knw that i'll have to increase the tank size very soon ... i'll see wat to do .. do u have any idea whether they would not fight with each other or even the black ghost would be attacked by the oscars .. i had put red tail sharks and they ate them!! :(

I'm sorry but 4 Oscars, 2 Koi, and some Silver Dollars just isn't big enough to house them for very long at all. I hope you're able to upgrade in the very, very near future.

Where did the Koi come up? I missed that.

Your tank is way too small for even JUST one oscar. I hope you do realize they get to approx a foot in length, each. And yes, they do eat fish, which is why they ate your red tail sharks.

The fact they did this suggests they are not even baby oscars, but youngsters, which means the tank must be pretty crowded already. This will result in very poor water quality, as well as probable stunting and ill health with your fish. I understand they might not be easy to get where you are, but what is more important, their health, or your obtaining them?
If the best you can do is a 18 gallon tank, don't keep Oscars.

ONE oscar is slightly cramped in a 55 gallon tank, for perspective.

His sig said, 18.7 Gallon US - Just a beginner! :)
1 Tiger oscar 1 Copper Plate oscar 1 Albino oscar 1 Veil Tail albino oscar 2 Kois 2 Silver Dollars

Please tell me they're not all in there...
