Holy Crap !!

I have a 300 gallon tank and am only thinking of putting 2 Oscars in it !

Whoa dude, listen, the minimum tank for a single O is a 75 IMO. Some will say a 55 but when an O is a foot long and the tank is only 12" deep, need I say more. Before you think about getting anymore fish you need to get a least a 6 ft tank that is at least 18" deep. Post Pics of your setup!!!!

Where did the Koi come up? I missed that.

Your tank is way too small for even JUST one oscar. I hope you do realize they get to approx a foot in length, each. And yes, they do eat fish, which is why they ate your red tail sharks.

The fact they did this suggests they are not even baby oscars, but youngsters, which means the tank must be pretty crowded already. This will result in very poor water quality, as well as probable stunting and ill health with your fish. I understand they might not be easy to get where you are, but what is more important, their health, or your obtaining them?
If the best you can do is a 18 gallon tank, don't keep Oscars.

ONE oscar is slightly cramped in a 55 gallon tank, for perspective.

i do understand this m8.. i found this out just a day back when i signed up at this forum! the main thing is that the vendors dont care in which tank we are keeping oscars:screwy:.. so i never came to know abt this ... the oscars are of 1 inch each ! and everything seems to be pretty comfortable! lets see wat happens . its because of this reason alone that i have started feeding them very i mean very sparingly !

i recently brought my fishes out from the white spot itch disease and thats why my tank is recovering from that , i mean the dirt .. i m gonna change the water soon! its just a matter of few months until i buy a huge tank !! till then i'll have to manage!! :(:screwy:

thanx for the quick replies !! :grinno:

Dude

You are not getting any sympathy from us, and your excuses are not appealing to us. You should have found out how big they get before getting even just one. And, most importantly,

YOU ARE NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT RESOLVING THIS

You are talking about "seeing how it goes" -- That is very, very immature, ignorant, on your part. Maybe it is true that you just found out yesterday, but what you are saying, is that you are keeping the tank as-is.

Do the right thing, and IMMEDIATELY remove ALL the oscars and koi. Maybe if they are tiny keep one, but ONLY IF, and ONLY IF, you have a BIG tank ready within a few months.

Otherwise, GET RID OF THEM ALL NOW. Why make the fish suffer by having the problems "in the future" that you speak of.
No offense, truly, but I have heard quite a few Indians express a clear disregard for animals and their needs. If you are any different, then you will follow our advice IMMEDIATELY.

Sorry for venting, but your posts speak for themselves. That, in my opinion, is not welcome. We, as fishkeepers, accept that singular responsibility for their well-being and health, which you clearly aren't doing.
