hey, all. I was just wondering, do RBPs do well alone, or do they really need shoals? whats the minimum number?

wow... I thought you guys could answer this one quickly....

a fish shop near me has a solo RBP in a display tank (has a bent body so hes a not 4 sale)
he seems to be doing fine and has been 4 the past how ever long, i dont no how long hes been there but its a good stretch (if thats good or not i dont no as im not a p owner)

pygo's are fine alone, and sometimes safer alone as pygo's do kill eachother quiet often

so they don't NEED schools? sweet! what is the minimum tank size for one RBP? 55Gs?

RBP deffinatly dont need companionship, though often times they are even less active when kept solitary. a buddy of mine has had one by himself for 2-4 years, doin just fine.

as a matter a fact it is better to keep one P alone as opposed to having multiple fish in too small of a tank.

furthermore (though not mentioned) it is better to have one RBP solitare then to have two, as with only two Ps they will fight often as there is no extras to divert attention.

always keep one P or 3 or more

Hope I helped some
Quinn

yeah, becuase rbp's are small, and most aren't past 10", a 55 would suffice for a single specimen

now all I have to do is find some way to convince my mother to let me have one... maybe I could get one as a baby when she wouldn't know that it was one, and then by the time it was grown, she'd be used to it.
