Can somebody tell me about this filter?

These are one of the best sponge filters money can buy.I have one in everyone of my tanks and one of the best investment you could make for your fish.Don't worry about shopping on line,It's safe. And check this site out, they have the lowest price for them on the net/Jehmco.com. G.L.

the filter you were asking about is a hang on front, I have one and it works (i believe its a whisper), but imo it would be too powerfull for guppy fry, they would get sucked right in, unless you covered it. Personally I don't like it that much, as you have to drop the water level a bit bc it goes on the inside. As far as your sponge filter, I think the link bigspizz gave you would be the way to go, i think a sponge filter would work for a guppy tank.

Cool, I will order it. Thanks everyone :naughty:

Oh yeah just curious, how does that tube part work? Is that where the water is released back out from?

You just stick an airstone down the tube....The bubbles go up are make water draw through the sponge and flow up through the tube....The poster who mentioned turtle tanks was talking about the first filter you posted....The one I posted is called a Hydro5....They are the best sponges around. You could get the smaller models for a ten gallon. I think a Hydro would more than filter a 20 all by its self.....Good luck man, and if you still have any questions, feel free to keep asking...:)

Okay, thanks. So, I do have a question. Does that mean I have to get an airstone, and stick it down the tube? I assume my lfs would have airstones, right?

It may come with something, but a little blue airstone is like 69 cents....Yes your LFS will have them for sure. I suggest buying backups because they need to be replaced every once in a while.

When you use them for a while and try to remove them for any reason they crumble...Also the bubbles will get pretty big. I think smaller bubbles are more effective to displace water evenly....
