can someone help me ID these crabs?

sorry about the camera phone quality. you can see that they don't appear to have paddles on their legs.

Saw a similar crab, LFS said they were from Thailand, no luck in finding an ID though. Probably a brackish critter anyway

I've kept those kind of crabs before, they are a Brachyura sp., common name red claw crab from Singapore. They are one of the "soap dish crabs."

The are brackish, but seem to do OK in freshwater with minimal salt (1 TBS per gallon). They need a landing to crawl out on. Mine lived along time, over a year and 1/2, which was longer than any other crab I've kept. Mine didn't seem to fight much or eat each other, but I had lots of hiding places for molting crabs and kept them well feed.

They are really cool! Oh, and make sure you have a good lid on the tank, they are strong and will get out.

We used to sell crabs like that at the pet store I used to work at. The common name that I was familiar with was a Thai Devil Crab.

thanks, I looked them up and they are really close but these crabs that I have have smaller claws with not as much red on them(as long as I was looking at the correct picture). do you know any info about the Thai Devil Crabs?
