My 9w ivc has always kept my water crisp and clear. Never algae ick or any parisites. And u dont need an extra pump or direct wire in ur fx5. I have a self contained unit with a big sponge filter and a flow rate of 220gph. I ordered it, recieved it and plugged it in. The bulbs last till they burn out, apprx 1 year and their only 15$ to replace

Imo a good line of defense and prevention plus it does kill anything including eggs or fry, so breeding turn off!

I just got an FX5 a while ago, I dont know if you have tried this but get one of the FX5 polishing pads(white) and run it in your filter for a week or get one of the fine filter pads(blue) for the fx5 those will clear the water up all the way for you. If you want to make sure you get everything possible use the polish pad, you can run one for a week or two and then you have to just throw it away, they are so dense and will catch everything possible, so much that you cant even clean them out. Also dont place too much media in the fx5 or you can start to lose pressure going through it.

The polishing pads will slow flow rate just as bad esp when their clogged woth dirt in a week

Wow glad i didnt buy a turbo twist lol what a crock! Luckily my uvc has a gap of .5cm from bulb and a lower gph creating more exposure + a prefilter for 120$
