Here's a photo of some sort of sack I found drifting around in my 300G tank. I only realized I should have put something next to it for size reference once I threw it away. :irked:
It's about 2" wide and about 1" across. Its definitely biological, but none of the tank inhabitants seemed interested in taking a bite of it. Oh, and it smells fishy... and is very slimy
None of the inhabitants are dead; all of them are still swimming around and accounted for.
1 x 11"Aro
1 x 8" CK
1 x 9" Common Plec
4 x 6" Bala Sharks
2 x 4" Sun Catfish

So... Any ideas?

piece-o-scale or gillplate?

FW jellyfish?
I don't think it's a FW Jellyfish

piece-o-scale or gillplate?
It's too soft and slimy to be either, plus none of the tank occupants are big enough for it to be any sort of external part of their bodies. None of the fish show signs of injury either.

a piece of sludge?
It seems to be too organic to be just sludge. The tank isn't running long enough for new species to develop :D

My first thought was "It's a stomach".
It was filled with water while it was drifting around the bottom of the tank. Almost like an organic balloon. It deflated when I took it out of the water.

I wouldn't have thought much of it if my Oscar was still in the tank. (His sh*t always looks like something out of Resident evil) But I transferred him to another tank 2 weeks ago.... Once one of his turds looked like a full grown brownish guppy :D

Looks like a partially digested snail or shrimp skin...

oh, and the tank is pretty clean. The sump has been running for about 3 months now and the tank has been running (hooked to the sump) for almost 2 months. There is minimal alge growth in the tank. All three windows are spotless.

I don't stock snails, so that clears that. But I do feed them shrimp. This thing was just a little bigger than a shrimp though... Plus I cut the shrimp up before I feed them.

I tried to google "clear brown slimy sack", but alas I didn't find anything resembling this...

Looks like part of a catfish slimecoat thats been shed.
