or maybe?

I would guess it's actually a senegal bichir and the owner knows nothing about fish (or animals in general, for that matter).

I think you guys are overthinking this...a senegal? Do we really think such an uneducated person actually payed the mula for a bichir?

My money is on it being a newt. I can see some idiot at a petco etc telling this person that "newts eat the stuff in the bottom of your tank" and newts do look a little like a lizard.

What? Are you saying that you think senegals are expensive or something? I was at petsmart a couple weeks ago and they had them for $3.50, so no, they are definitely NOT expensive.

All of this speculation is pointless. The poster obviously trained a juvenile blue-tongued skink to scrape the inside of the tank with its tail by rewarding the behavior. Then the skink knows to dive in with its claws in its nostrils to avoid suffocating and swallows the floating algae shreds along with 30% of the water. Then you just remove the skink, add dechlorinated water and you're good to go. It's pretty obvious.

Why would they sell that for only $10, I bet they could get $1,000 off of that lizard? :grinno:
