So I have been searching for lights to fit my tank and cannot find any, my tank is a weird dimension I guess. I'm looking for lights to sit ontop of the tank with the provided legs and I cannot hang the lights (or this would be solved easily). My tank is 39.5-40 inches long (a 52 gallon I believe). Its planted so I am looking for T5 HOs and I do have pressurized Co2 and ferts. So far all I find is 36" and 48" fixtures. Is there anyway to get a 36" to fit my tank! or does anyone know of any 40" fixture. Also, I don't want anything too expensive. I have only been able to find this at 40": http://cgi.ebay.com/36-T5-HO-Aquari...ultDomain_0&hash=item45fa87c4b4#ht_1928wt_905 , but I have heard bad things about these lights. I would like to make this fit: http://cgi.ebay.com/36-156W-AQUARIU...ltDomain_0&hash=item2564618575#ht_3195wt_1139 (might be a bit too light?) or a 36", 78W Nova Extreme T5
or one from fishneedit.com . PLEEASE HELP! :nilly:

What about Hagen and their Glo Light units... i know you can expand their legs so that it will sit on a longer tank... maybe thats what you could use?

^^ Good suggestion, or you can get a florescent hanging light fixture and hang from ceiling over tank ... That's what I'm doing with my large tank.

there are a few 36" light fixtures that have legs that expand to up to 48 ". I know the shop i worked at before i left had led lights that did this and they were enough to "grow corals" hagen also makes the t5 ho lights with the legs like said before, as well as deep blue by royal i believe.

hmmm never thought of buying a larger fixture with legs that move,i checked out the hagen glos they seemed okay, ill have to read some review on them-they seem a little expensive for what you get imo

Are you able to get an old 4ft fixture? Doesn't matter if it works or not. The casing is made of aluminum and easy to saw. Just get shorter tubes and new ballast to fit it in.

I use the Hagen Glo Light unit and honestly couldn't be happier... i agree its not the cheapest out there... but they do have proper reflecting panels inside that work like mirrors giving you extra bright light...
