For painting purposes.

The tank's empty and I don't like how the paint I used for the background went up in the caulk. It's looks pretty crappy.

Actually the trim and 2 braces appear to be one piece. Probably shouldn't come off right? Does it matter if there's no water in it?

And I probably wouldn't even know how to take it off.

How do you guys get your black backgrounds to look so good?

Thoughts?

I use 3D backgrounds. I have removed the trim on tanks before and yes it is possible but be aware it is a total PITA to get off without breaking or cracking it. Make sure you track down a decent source on where to get a replacement before you get your knifes out just in case.. I had a heck of a time trying to get it off and broke it, getting s replacement was even worse.

Haha yeah, this was a pretty dumb post I won't lie. I had a 3D background before but with my FX5 the intake wouldn't stay and whatnot. Besides those ones that are 350 bucks, what could I get for a 125?

I tried a DIY one with the sytrofoam and concrete and it kind of sucked.

it can, but like JK47 said every time I'v tried I cracked the tank. Honestly don't mess with it.

I took the top rim off my 25G tank and i have to say, never ever again will i do that... not only was in a absolute PITA, but i seriously thought i cracked my tank on more than one occasion during the process... although luckily i didn't...

Haha alright I'll leave it on. Not messing with it. Any ideas on 3D background? I suck at DIY and I'm not paying $300.

Many many designs for cheap on this site (a fewin the price range you mention). Haven't seen any other company able to compete with their prices.

Matt the guy that runs the show over there is a really nice guy, I highly recomend dealing with him. I have 3 of their backgrounds and love every one.

I'd probably have to make my own because then I can't get the fx5 to stick to the back. Or let alone put anything on the back glass.

if its encased trimming i wouldn't remove it because it's keeping the tank together. I just bought a 90 gallon for 100 bucks, right now i have it in a back room filled with water making sure it doesn't leak. It has crappy beige color trimming all around and for now i have to live with it. I will be building my own 90 gallon stand.

I have a 125 with assorted cichilids, 55 gallon with some angel/blood parrots and finally my 90 gallon that will be in the works.

I suggest do your research, the local fish store in your area might be able to order the trimming. I asked about my 90 gallon trimming and they told me $80 bucks for the entire tank. I can live with the beige for now, waste of money.

Lol yeah I like the oak trim on my tank. It's staying for sure. I guess I can peel the latex paint off the back and try again. The paint is like a dark dark gray. Not nearly the deep black I was aiming for.
