Can the back trim be removed from my tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah I want my trim to be black, but I don't want to crack the tank i got a steal on. Not sure what I will do with the tank yet with fish. I will be posting updates on my blog for all to see the transformation. I want to get a creepy huge oddly shaped Lava Rock for the center of the tank.

I have to scout around for something unique.

Not sure about the US, but in Hong Kong there is a cheap alternative to the expensive fiberglass 3D background, which are made from just foam...

The Fiberglass ones by jewel retail over here for about HKD $300-$500+, where as the foam ones only cost HKD $40 bucks tops...

So maybe time to do some hunting online for some?

Just curious, is there a reason why it has to be inside?

Most people just paint the back of the tank black, or get that sticky backing stuff to do the job...

I tried painting the back, but when the water is high enough and you can see the back trim, it looks crappy cause the paint ran up inside the caulk and its all uneven and im a spazz about that

I tried to remove the rim on a 2.5 gallon I have, and cracked as well. Lesson learned, at least it was on a cheap little tank. ;)

If I left the bottom frame on but removed the top it's still a bad idea? Haha. It's really annoying how the paint meets the brown trim so unevenly.

Either way it could break. Your looking at a good 80%+ plus it will break. It's very hard to get it off.

Why can't you just repaint the background or paint the trim the color you want.

Also take a picture if this defect in what your seeing. I'm not even sure half of the people understand what the problem is.

Your risking the tank cracking and being useless over some paint that leaked into the frame? Just deal with it honestly.
