Can the floors in an apartment on the second floor hold a 90 gallon tank?

Thanks again for everybody's help and advice. I really do appreciate that.

Hello; Site unseen no one can say for sure what a particular floor can hold without damage. (Damage including from slight permanent deflection up to actual structural failure.) I usually figure from 10 to 12 pounds per gallon with stand substrate and all. That puts a 90 at around 900 to 1080 pounds.
While it is possible that the floor will hold the weight without an issue, perhaps some precautions can be taken. Get it cleared by the landlord first and consider getting renters insurance that specifically will cover any damage from the tank. Water damage may be more likely than structural and should be covered as well.
While the landlords building may be considered structurally weak by some if it cannot hold the weight of such a tank, I suspect that you will still be liable for any damage caused by your tank. At any rate the insurance may well be cheaper that a lawyer and should also give both you and the landlord some peace of mind.
Here is a link to the topic that has been posted many times on this forum. The issue of floor capacity has been discussed many times so a search of threads may also yield information.

Good luck

x2.. always clear it with your landlord... I've read a few threads and known a few people who have had to get rid of their tanks or be evicted for having unauthorized tanks. and tbh I just never wanted to have to "hide" my tanks from the neighbors ect. because if something happens and your tank breaks and does major damage if you wheren't allowed a tank to begin with or it's not covered by insurance.. you are up a creek w/out a paddle... and imho that's a stupid risk to take.

But on that note, some people think i'm crazy for covering my butt that thoroughly.

I had 6 tanks ranging from 125g-10g running in my old apartment on the second floor, but a 90g should be fine, ^but I agree with what was said
