I have an Rena Xp3 on my 65 gallon tank. In a month i will be using it on a 125 gallon tank. The filter keeps my 65g tank sparkling clear, but i think it might need some help on the 125g. Would it be okay to put a Emperor 400 on the tank too? And can there ever be too much filtration on a tank?

yes therew can be to much filteration. if your fish have troubling swimming cuz the current

You'll probably be okay with the XP3 and Emp400 on your 125 as long as you don't have a huge bio-load.

I have a similar sized canister filter, an Emperor 400 and a Wet/Dry running on a 125 and it is definately not too much filtration. I think you would definately benefit from adding the emperor. What type of fish are you keeping and how many?

Various Bichirs, Red-tail cuda, African Knife(lame), pike,Tiger Oscar,TT eel, ropefish, and a couple other cichlids. They like to make a mess.

Know of any other cool fish i can house in the 125?

Im planning on having 2 FX5s on my +1000ltr tank... i like bio filtration :P
If you like bio filtration why are you going after the FX5?? It is more of a mechanical filter, Eheim pro3 is bio filtration.

There's no such thing as too much filtration, but too much current... yes, depending on what species you're keeping.
