I am just curious if a frontosa and a red empress male and 2 females would get along. I of course am not meaning that they would be best buds but just wondering compatibility wise, will they generally leave each other alone?

Yeah, it would be fine. Maybe just a bit of chaseing from the red emp when he is ready to spawn, unless the frontosa is on the larger side and punks him.

The tank I would be trying this in is 90 gallons.

I have 7 peacocks in with 3 fronts, and have only recently having aggression issues with my Regal and my biggest front. My regal has become a real ***hole as of late and chasing everyone around the tank. He's especially aggressive towards my big front, who has already tried to take the Regals face off the other day when he was charging him. Yesterday I came home to a 1/2 peice of skin hanging off my Regals mouth (guessing him and the front got into it again) But other than this they've all been getting along well for months now.

Could work, how big are each?

I fore see however, the red emp bulling the crap out of the front is they are close to size or smaller. He will want to breed and show he is boss so the females will breed with him...

What if I didn't get any red empress females? I already have a red empress male who is about 4" so I'm sure any front I find will be smaller.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for something that may work with or without the empress?

I am aware that for life a front needs a bigger tank. I am hoping to get one in the near future. However, if I got the front and he was getting to big (before I could get a bigger tank) I would find him another home. This is a fish I have been looking for for a while and my LFS finally has some.
