Hi,

I bought this stand http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CYUUEI/ref=oss_product

Wondering if anyone owns this specific stand? Anyway, I was thinking of putting a 10 gallon beneath it. The thing is it doesn't mention this stand as being used as a duel stand. Under the stand I got plenty of room lengthwise for a 10 gallon. But the width is only about 10.5 inches and that about approx the width on the 10 gallon. So its either going to fit really snug (which I don't want). Or I will have to add a board to rest on the 2 beams and then lay the 10 gallon on that.

If I go this route, what do you recommend? If I were to add some plywood I do not know if it will have enough support. I think it would be a nice idea to add some cross support. Anyway what do you recommend?

Well, the thing is I am looking to save space. Looking at the stand you linked 12 Volt Man, mine looks a bit stronger. I'm just wondering if you guys would approve that putting a 10 gallon below is safe. And if I was to add some support what should I add?If I were to just put a 10 gallon underneath all it would have is the support of the 2 beams in front and back. I think that is too risky. So I think added support is essential.

PS: 12 Volt man I already have a 29 gallon on top of the stand I linked. I was just thinking about seeing if I could get away with adding a smaller tank underneath to save space.

weight should not be an issue with a 10g when dealing with those stands. the first one you linked too looks very strong.

I have a 65g/50g stacked on a tube steel stand. not sure if that stand is tube steel or not?

as far as the supports go, you will need to put something down as a 10g tank is 10" wide not 12" wide.

so the tank will not be able to sit on the stand on its on. if you decide to go with a 12" wide tank, like a 15g, it would be easier.

you could just place it on the stand if the bottom tank is 12" wide too. extra support will not be necessary as the ends will be well supported and cross supports are not necessary with glass tanks (that is why almost all stands are perimeter support only)
