Hi, I'm new to MFK site (but not new to monster fish)and so far I've been enjoying all the information and knowledge from everyone. MFK site rocks~!
Back to my question, just purchased a townhouse today and I'm thinking about putting a 180G in the living room but I am worrying about all the weight from the setup will damage my floor. (90G should be no problem but that's no where near "monster")
The townhouse is about 9~10 years old, all the joints are constructed with 2x4s and I plan to put the tank next to a load bearing wall (outer wall) perpendicular to the joints.
Footprint of the tank will be at least 72" long (or if there's longer ones) to try to cover as many joints as possible.
The arrangement of the joints is different than many I've seen, maybe this configuration can hold lots of weight.
Took some pictures of the floor joints from the basement with my cell phone (only one turned out to be viewable) and want to know if they will hold the weight.
Thanks
Jack

but I don't think I'll let that three fattys standing side by side eating cake in my living room for many years to come. I don't think the floor will have any issue supporting the weight short term wise, what worries me is the possible long term damage to the floor.
