Hi,i want to ask for some advices from you guys.my friend has a 50 gal tank, but she doesn't understand about fish compability.his father already put 2 tinfoil barbs inside,so i dont have any choice but to keep these fish inside, although the tank is quite small for them (1 m x 45 cm x 60 cm).so i'm planning to add a little bit more semi aggressive fish.i already put 1 lemon cichlid and another cichlid which i forget the name,a rainbow shark,a pleco, and a blood-parrot.all of them are similar in size(7-10 cm long, the biggest is the tinfoil) and so far they are doing fine,my parrot and my lemon like to shove each other but no big deal since theybusually leave each other alone and i put some deccoration so they can have their own privacy.so i want to ask you guys if could this combination work out ubtil they reach their full size?

And if may ask another question,my friend is asking whenever she can put a senegal bichir inside, but i prefering to put a 15 cm already platydoras inside for the last fish in the tank.which one should i add?thanks and really sorry for time consuming question..

I'm pretty sure that lemon cichlid is African, while just about the rest are not unless you include the bichir. The tank is small for what your putting in and the barbs will need to be moved eventually imo. Also, when you say another type of cichlid you don't know, it could be a fish that could grow to 2 inches or a fish that grows to 2 feet so it'd help if you could specify or post a picture of the "unknown cichlid".

Too many unknowns here. What is a lemon cichlid? And what is the unknown cichlid? The tin foil will definitely have to moved eventually. Those guys get freaken huge.

The tank is too small right out of the gate for two tinfoil barbs that can and may get 15" each. But more importantly, filtration on such a setup should be the focus as, and it is just my opinion, you have quit a full tank as far as fish go now. Don't be surprised as these fish reach maturity your water quality seriously suffering.

@ boldtogether :yeah.thouht so for the tinfoil.hopefully her father realize that as soon as the fish is 20 cm long..about the filtration,i think there is no problem since the filter is quite powerful(forgot the spec though) and is helped by two layer of sponge and carbon(the aquarium seperate the filtration system and the fish) and the tank always been recycle for at least once a week.so you guys are suggesting i shouldn't add any resident for the tank for now?i am thinking of getting rid of the pleco once it is 30 cm though.i am going to put it into a 150 gal tank of mine

U username and eeh
h : the unknown cichlid can only get to around 11 cm or so,similar to lemon and it is african cichlid too .i said it is unknown since i dont know the common name that being used to describe it(i live in indonesia, that's why.hehe)so u guys think it is enough already?but will it workout?

At 30cm the Pleco will not do in a 50 simply because of depth. Even at 8 inches (roughly 18cm) is really pushing it. Also what is the filtration and setup on the tank? A Pleco has a large biomass especially at that size

Really?then i have to take it as soon as possible.yeah i know the make a lot of mess ins8de the tank..i will take a picture if i got time.but will they able to tolerate each other?

I would re-home the tinfoils, and start with a blank slate; establishing what fish we are talking about exactly, before jumping in :)

convict360 convict360 : pardon me?i am sorry,do you mean after re home the tinfoil,i just focussing to keep for the rest of them or what?

sorry, I misread, didn't know you'd added some of the other fish already. Best bet is to establish what type of fish the lemon one is, and the cichlid.

Other than that, the pleco, rainbow shark and blood parrot would likely do well
