But i wouldnt.
Your fish wont show the best colors and wont be so healty unless you figured out how to feed them perfectly.
Flowerhorns has a diffrent diet compared to africans. Mix it, your africans will die, or your flowerhorns will lack the nutrients.

From what I have read, hard water will help in cock development, soft water will help in color development. I read this on the web, but it was a good site... let me find the link.

Your water isn't exactly that hard at a pH of 6-7, So I would say that that pH would be alright for a flowerhorn, but the african flowerhorn mix is a little risky. I would say get a sepperate tank if you want a FH.

Mixing the African Cichlids with a Flowerhorn isnt recommended. I thought Flowerhorns were a hybrid of South American Cichlids, which are fish that are from soft low ph water (correct me if I am wrong), so wouldnt Flowerhorns do better in soft acidic water? I have one a Red Monkey I believe, from a guy a Flowerhornusa.com and I put him in my 300gal S/C American tank, was beat up for a couple days but now is healing and getting better. Also high grade Flowerhorns tend to very aggressive, so you African Cichlids would either end up getting killed or eaten by the Flowerhorn once it is large enough. It is also correct that Africans need a higher ph and hardness, they usually recommend high 7 to mid 8s.
It is not a good idea to mix them as they have nothing to do with each other.. the flowerhorn derives from central american cichlids and african cichlids ( assuming you are talking about african lake cichlids are completely different fish, completely diferent environment.
Even in terms of PH as somebody was telling, the diference is significant, since malawis thrive in 8 or 8.5 and Tanganicans around 8.5 and even 9. That is way to high for a Flowerhorn imo.
