hey i go fishing pretty often and catch all sorts of things cat fish, eels, lung fish, perch ,barra even turtles and i was wondering if i could take a small one of these home and chuck it in my tank? and if they get to big can i release them back to the wild?

you can't let them go back into the while for ethical and legal reasons, but also keep in mind there might be laws regarding taking native fish

Well said, everyone. Couldn't have said it better.:D

Definantly not turtles, they need special step ups, their better in the creek where you found them.
a turtles setup isn't much different than a fish setup the only diffeerence is better filtration, basking dock, heat lamp, and uvb lamp, other than that it's not that special..........

but back to the thread, i have wondered the same question, I also fish alot, there is a dam I go to that has some really big and beautiful sun fish, and I always wanted to bring one home

it usually depends on the species. In tx, at least, if they aren't protected and you have a license to catch game fish; you are allowed to keep them (what's the difference between an aquarium and a skillet?). Just a big no no on releasing them.
