I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to breed a gold gourami with a blue gourami. I have a gold female and a blue male. Right now there not in the same tank because when they were the male wouldn't leave the female alone and kept chasing her. Ive seen the male build a bubble nest but that was a little before i got the gold female. I goggled my question and couldn't seem to find any info so If anyone knows if its possible or any harder to breed two different color gourami please let me know. :D

they are both Trichogaster trichopterus
there should be no problem breeding them, they are just color morphs; i have not tried it yet and there is no information on crossing the colors. the gold is a var. of the blue( wild coloration); the eggs may be fertile but the young may not be as healthy.

i've done it. just as easy as breeding the same color. some babies will turn out gold and some blue, and there's no adverse health affects. have you had experience breeding gouramis? the babies are tiny and the only filters that should be used are air driven, undergravel or sponge.

No i have never breed them. I just breed some mollys but thats way too easy so i wanted to try gouramis since i saw my male building a bubble nest i thought id give it a try. But how do you put the male and female together without the male attacking the female? I had then together for about 5 mins and the male chased the female all around my 75.

that just means shes not ready to deposit her eggs. give er some time. if he's too agressive id remove the male, wait till she has a nice belly full of eggs, then reintroduce him.

Yes! but why do you want to cross breed them?
