Bolivian Rams with Convicts. I just bought a Ruby clown cichlid(Bolivian Ram)
I was wondering if I could breed the Bolivian Ram with my convict because they seem to be pairing up, and the bolivian ram is cleaning the top rocks, and I read when it cleans the top rocks that its preparing to mate. Just curious if they can breed because that owuld be a cool fish.

I sincerely doubt it, cons cross with a lot of things though so I wouldn't rule it out entirely. I just think the size difference would make it hard even if the egg/milt were compatible.

A 2" Ram breeding with a 2" convict.

I dont think its possible to breed them together.

Mystix.. I was talking about final size... As in even if the male and female had compatible junk, the size difference in the fully grown adult fish would make fry improbable. It'd be like trying to breed a chihuaha to a great dane... only that the dogs would at least be the same species....

since when did size matter in breeding? ive seen larger fish breed w/ smaller fish. i dont think these fish can breed though.

I would have thought convicts could quite easily kill a ram,so in the long run i'd say its a bad mix.
