IMO oscars have a very unique look, unlike just about any other cichlid really. I don't see how someone could confuse them with goldfish but I know people are always asking if my Midas is a goldfish. I find it insulting, not because I dislike goldfish (I don't) but because I take great pride in my Midas and don't see how anyone could confuse the two.

i like midas's they're ugly ^_^

Whatever melts your butter. I prefer Midas as well but I don't think either are ugly, least not in a bad way.

I like my oscar, but i do get the wow its ugly card thrown at me, however if you raised one from 2" , you would understand that it doesnt matter, and personally i think mines attractive so thats what counts.

They have great colouration and are interactive fish, they may not look the same as many other fish but it is this individuality that appeals to many fish keepers. Not everyone likes the same fish it's all a matter of opinion. :)
